EA Is Giving Away Free Sims 4 Marketplace Content: Here’s What You Need To Know
Is this slightly suspicious? Maybe a little lol.
Just when I thought I had finally forgotten about The Sim 4 Marketplace, EA threw us a curveball. FREE STUFF!
Starting June 11th, EA is rolling out a six week “Free Maker Drop” event through The Sims 4 Marketplace giving players access to free CAS and build/buy items created by Marketplace Makers. While free is my favorite price, it still feels a little icky to be using the Marketplace.
If you too have been avoiding the Marketplace, how are you feeling about this announcement? This may finally be the time to poke around and see what it’s all about without having to purchase any moola *eye roll*.
What Are Free Maker Drops?
Over the next six weeks, participating makers will release free marketplace items for players to claim. These aren’t full packs though. Each creator is contributing one or two pieces of custom content that you can add to your game at absolutely no cost. We’re getting furniture, clutter, clothing, shoes, and other goodies designed by popular creators we all know and love:
- Serenity
- Syboulette
- Miiko
- SixamCC
- Taurus
- ValiaSims
- AlexCroft
- HYDRA
- BrazenLotus
- Peacemaker
- HAENBI
- Boschiana
So what’s the catch? (because there’s always one with EA right?)
Each drop is only available for four weeks before it disappears. Miss it and you’ll be staring longingly at screenshots wondering why you didn’t spend thirty seconds claiming a free couch. #Welp
Why Is EA Suddenly Being So Generous?
I’m not saying EA has ulterior motives but …
What better way to get more player eyeballs browsing the marketplace than by enticing us all with free content.
The marketplace was only launched a few a months ago and was met with uhh… let’s just keep it cute and say mixed reviews. The decision to introduce paid creator content and virtual currency still has many players deciding how to feel about it, so you can’t blame them for trying to sway the ones still on the fence.
Is It Worth Claiming?
Well… it’s free so yes?
Even if you aren’t sold on the marketplace itself, there isn’t much of a downside to grabbing free items while they’re available. At worst, you end up with a few extra items you’ll never use. At best you discover some genuinely fantastic creators content that fits perfectly into your gameplay.
Either way your sims house gets another random chair they don’t technically need; but isn’t that pretty much the foundation of The Sims experience?
Here’s a look at the first two items currently available at the time of this post. I passed on the shoes as I’m positive I’ll never use them, but the couch and loveseat may get at least one use out of me.

Final Thoughts
I won’t pretend this suddenly changes every concern players have about the marketplace, but free content is free content. At the end of the day I’m not going to complain about having more options.
Not that you asked, but I suggest going ahead and claiming everything even if you’re not sure you’ll use it. Your future self (the one sporadically decorating a home at 2 a.m) will thank you when that free couch suddenly becomes the perfect piece for your build.
Although I’ve basically restated everything they’ve said (tehe) if you want to check out the official EA announcement you can read it here.
That’s all for now friends!
Stay Kind, Until next time 💋
