My Sims 4 Base Game Activity Tracker

*Heavy sigh*

My game has been so buggy and broken lately I haven’t much felt like playing out my stories. It’s so risky building a forever save when the game can’t even process my settings correctly even after repairing it. TOOL mod was my outlet for a bit but when I tragically lost all of my hard work with no explanation, my motivation went with it.

I tried searching for another game to mindlessly zone out to and fill my time, but everything I found felt too hard, too scary, or too boring.

What’s a girl to do?

I’ve decided mindless game play is the answer. At least for now while the game is having a melt down. I’m almost embarrassed to admit this I only purchased most of the packs I own just so I wouldn’t be missing items from downloaded gallery builds.

For at least 6 months after I got them, I didn’t even know I had those 3 vacation worlds. Pathetic, but as a person with OCD and autism I forgive myself. I needed those lots to be identical to the original or I’d spontaneously combust.

As I’ve mentioned before, playing this game has drastically reduced my compulsive tendencies and even helped with my excessive need for control and perfection; so in spite of all its flaws, I’m not quite ready to throw the whole game away just yet.

Instead, I will be removing all of my DLCs and custom content to just play the game for what it is. I own all of the DLCs and haven’t actually played with most of them. I will gradually start to add packs back after completing all the task in the prior pack. I’m also hoping this will make building and CAS less intimidating since I’ll have significantly less items to overwhelm me.

We’ll see.

As someone who only started playing the game after it became free to play, I never really got to fully experience all aspects of “playing” because builders and simmers have made it so easy to just plop their builds/sims in the game. If I’m honest, it’s made me a bit lazy and also so reliant on other people for things I could probably attempt myself. Even if they aren’t as good it would still be fun to try.

So that’s what I’m doing. In typical OCD fashion I’ve created a spreadsheet and hope to make my way through it. This isn’t a speed run challenge though. I have no time table or stopping point in mind. As long as I enjoy it, I’ll keep doing it for as long as it takes. I’m also considering doing James Turner’s Super Sim Challenge a long side this but I’m on the fence still.

I think it’s also worth noting that I will be starting in a blank save as I still can’t play any other way. Welp.

Highlights:

Started a new save with only base game
Placed base game Willow Creek library
Created my first base game only sim Malik Carter who will be one of my astronaut sims. Also uploaded him to the gallery which I’ve never done.

I’m slightly irritated that relaxing bath with soaks isn’t included in the base game
Malik received 2 promotions and is now level 3 of the astronaut career
Started building my first house

- I had to google where to even find collections *face palm*

Malik received 3 more promotions and is now level 6 in the astronaut career
Malik purchased the entrepreneurial trait
So far I’m enjoying playing a vanilla game quite a bit more than I expected. There are still some notable bugs in the game but letting it play out how it wants to is significantly less stressful
