The Sims 4 Music Den Kit Review: Is It Worth Buying?

I’ll be honest, when EA announced that we were getting another kit I was pretty stoked. I know I’m an outsider on this, but I personally LOVE kits! Some of my absolute favorite DLCs are all kits and I don’t feel bad about that.

But once I saw the theme, my enthusiasm died a little.

I mean did they expect us to be grateful for a music themed kit with no new game play or new instruments? It’s clear that band pack is never coming, but would it have been too much to ask for some new instruments? I would be happy with a deco drum set at this point.

Yes I know the bar is low, BUT… as a PC player I also know I can count on modders to fill in the gameplay gaps EA so frequently leaves us with.

With all that being said, after buying the Music Den Kit, I can confidently say I was surprised by how genuinely usable it is, in the best way possible.

What’s Included?

The Music Den Kit includes 27 new build/buy objects all centered around creating stylish music spaces and studios. IMO EA did a really good job at making sure they were intentional about what went in this kit. Nothing feels like filler and nearly every item contributes to building a believable and/or cozy music space.

The kit includes:

  • A modern electronic keyboard
  • New guitars
  • A violin display
  • Studio rack equipment
  • Acoustic sound panels
  • Vinyl record storage
  • Music-themed wall art
  • Recording equipment clutter
  • Cassette tapes
  • Sheet music stand
  • Modern lounge seating
  • Retro-inspired furniture
  • 200 moolah

After spending some time looking through everything I’d say this kit is pretty solid. Is it going in my personal top five? No. But I still think it fills a gap that build mode has been missing.

Additionally, I absolutely love when we get in game items that I have cc for! Believe it or not, my goal is always to have less cc in my game, especially build/buy so when I realized I no longer needed cc acoustic panels or vinyl record wall art I did a little happy dance.

Lastly, while this isn’t a reason to buy the kit, you will get 200 moolah to spend in the Marketplace and that’s… well… it’s something.

Is It Worth It?

The objects feel cohesive and unlike some other themed kits where only two or three items become regular favorites, I can honestly see myself using most of these items again and again.

Not just in music studios but I also play with a lot of creative sims/careers so this is going to go platinum in my podcast studios, music classes, converted garages, and high school classrooms.

Overall, The Sims 4 Music Den Kit is something I’m glad to have in my game and will get a decent amount of usage out of it.

What are your thoughts? Have you purchased the kit and if so how have you been using it? I’m sure at least a handful of you reading have come up with some super clever uses for some of the items. I’m blown away by how builders especially think outside the box of the “intended” uses.

Thatโ€™s all for now friends!
